BELIEVERâS BAPTISM - Baptism by immersion follows Christâs example, symbolizing death, burial and resurrection to new life in Christ. It serves as a testimony of faith after accepting Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
*Acts 2:41: Romans 6:4; Matthew 3:11; Colossians 2:12
Why Baptism by Immersion?
The word âbaptizeâ means âto dip under the water.â
Because Jesus was baptized.
âAs soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.â (Matthew 3:16)
It best symbolizes a burial and resurrection.
Christâs - âFor when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ...â (Colossians 2:12)
Ours - âWhen someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand-new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!â (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Baptism doesnât make you a believer - it shows that you already believe. Baptism doesnât âsaveâ you; only the grace of God through your faith in Christ does that (Eph. 2:8-9). Baptism is like a wedding ring - itâs the outward symbol of the commitment you already made and the relationship you already have.

Who should be Baptized? Every person who has believed in Christ.
âThose who believed and accepted His message were baptized...â (Acts 2:41)
At Grace Baptist Church, we wait until our children are capable of believing and understanding the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.
Some churches practice âbaptism of confirmationâ for children. This ceremony is intended to be a covenant between the parents and God on the behalf of the child. This custom began about 300 years after the Bible was completed.
This is different from the baptism talked about in the Bible, which was only for those capable of belief. The purpose was to publicly confess your personal commitment to Christ.
At Grace Baptist, it is a membership requirement that every member be baptized the way Jesus demonstrated, even though many of us were âconfirmedâ as children.
